Detective Division

Sergeant Anthony Greco supervises the Melrose Park Police Department’s Investigation Division. Five full-time Investigators staff the Division.

The Investigation Division can become involved in a case in many different ways. As the first responder on the scene, a uniformed Patrol Officer receives a call, a written report is made, and if that report is determined to merit a follow-up investigation, the Investigations Division then handles the case. Precise criterion is used to determine which cases the Investigations Division scrutinize. This information includes suspect information, physical evidence, method of operation, and crime patterns. In some cases, they may not be investigated if the victim refuses to prosecute.

Additionally, the Investigations Division performs other tasks including registration and tracking of convicted sex offenders, crime data analysis, regulation of pawnshops, management of the Evidence Room, and crime lab submissions.

As an essential component of the Police Department, the Investigations Division also serves as liaison to other local, county, state, and federal agencies in an attempt to identify and fight criminal elements existing and/or attempting to establish themselves in our community.
